The images displayed on this site were captured and processed using the Orion Digital Image Capture System. This system uses passive capture from the SEM to aquire the image and any on-screen data.

This feature is probably the most important one vs all competitors: it cuts down the noise that can be induced by the ground loop in the cable connection itself, and it guarantees full security when connecting to any SEM. Also no particular care has to be taken regarding the SEM connection itself: the Orion board is electrically floating. The result is a noise-free image with the best signal-to-noise ratio. The pixel jitter (the error in the position of the image pixels) is zero, which guarantees the true high resolution. The installation is absolutely secure for the user ... and transparent to the SEM.

Orion is fully programmable with optional macro commands
This feature gives Orion as much power as the electrical isolation: the user can tailor the system appearance and available functions just by programming buttons in the tool bar.
Sequences of powerful grabbing and image processing instructions are stored in text files and called for automatic execution. This feature is unique and helps the user optimize his job on the SEM.

Software updates guarantee the evolution of the Orion system. New functions are added to make it always more powerful. The latest release is always available from Orion, so that registered users can download them at will. It has built-in routines optimized for SEM work, like text engraving, distance measurement, area extraction, interpolated reduction, and many others.

Fully passive device that tracks the SEM scanning signals
- easy connection
Thanks to the electrical isolation, there is no need to actively drive the SEM scanning: the connection becomes much simpler and reliable, but with an outstanding image quality. Frame averaging or integration, as well as EDX mapping grabbing capabilities, also exist. Connection is very easy because of the passive architecture.

Orion is open to the outside world
All " popular " image file formats (TIFF, BMP, TGA, JPG...) can be used. Remote drive capability is available on request through the use of a dedicated DLL and programming package; clipboard image transfer between applications can be used for fast transfers to image processors or archives.
